Snapshots of Faithful Mothers | Mothers Day 2026

Pastor Joel opens Mother's Day by acknowledging that the Bible doesn't contain a single chapter on how to be a mom—but what it does contain is a gallery of mothers who made a difference. Moving through seven women of Scripture, he draws out a distinct legacy from each one. Jochebed placed Moses in the Nile not out of desperation, but out of faith, reminding today's moms to hand their children over to God rather than be ruled by fear. Hannah's desperate, weeping prayers at the tabernacle shaped an entire nation through the prophet Samuel, and Pastor Joel encourages every praying mother that the God who heard Hannah still hears desperate prayers today. Naomi, even in the bitterness of losing her husband and both sons, continued to mother her daughter-in-law Ruth, ultimately placing Ruth in the lineage of King David and King Jesus—proving that empty arms can still leave a legacy.
Pastor Joel continues with Elizabeth, who welcomed a frightened young Mary into her home and blessed rather than competed with her, modeling that motherhood was never meant to be walked alone. Mary herself is held up as a mother of surrender and a collector of holy moments, treasuring up the things of God in her heart. Lois and Eunice, the grandmother and mother of Timothy, are celebrated as women whose daily teaching of Scripture shaped a church leader and left a debt the Christian church still owes. Finally, the Proverbs 31 woman is introduced through her often-overlooked first verse—words a mother taught her son—reminding every mom that a godly woman's wisdom has the power to outlive her by generations.
